Parkes Garage was founded in 1960 by Thomas Parkes and became main VAG dealer for Sligo in 1974, a connection with Volkswagen now running over fifty years. It is based at Knox Park in Ballysadare and describes itself today as Sligo's independent VAG specialist, serving Sligo town, Ballysadare, Collooney and Coolaney. The distinction matters: the workshop has manufacturer-level VW diagnostic and warranty capability but takes all makes and models, so a Volkswagen owner gets dealer-grade work without dealer pricing. Services cover servicing, lubricants, tyres — a stated speciality — battery replacement, clutches, wipers and bulbs, with computer wheel alignment priced openly at €35. New and used cars and vans are sold; used stock comes fully serviced with a warranty and NCT where applicable, and the two-year Volkswagen manufacturer warranty on new cars is honoured in the service department. The Parkes name is long-established locally and the group also runs a service station on the Old N4 in Ballysadare with a car wash, EV charging, AdBlue, shop and hot food, open 24 hours.
