Downey's Auto Stop Ltd

Description

Downey's Auto Stop on the Dublin Road in Portlaoise has been a main Ford dealer since 1988 and is also a main dealer for Kia and Suzuki. The site works as a one-stop shop for vehicle care: new and used sales, a parts department, a workshop with current diagnostic equipment, a valeting centre, a free-fit tyre and exhaust centre, and car hire. Two things set it apart from an ordinary franchised dealer. It runs a VTN centre — a designated commercial vehicle roadworthiness test centre — for both light and heavy vehicles, which means a van or truck can be tested and any faults put right in the same place. And every used vehicle is sold fully serviced, inspected and NCT prepared, with trade-ins accepted. The Ford range now includes the all-electric Capri, Explorer and Puma Gen-E, so the workshop handles electric drivetrains alongside conventional ones. Finance is available through hire purchase with the option to own at the end of the term.
